For the hallway, the brief was for impact. Our clients wanted their friends to say ‘wow’ when they arrive – Keeping their wonderful antiques and pieces from their travels, we went with a bold wallpaper and strong upholstery fabrics.
Filled with light and with wonderful garden views, this is not a typical basement flat. The project was undertaken in phases, allowing us to get to know our clients and adjust our interpretation of their brief as we understood each other better. We love it when our clients are brave, and these are some of our bravest. With every meeting we gave them more options and their requests became bolder.
We enjoyed working with our clients eclectic taste, combining contemporary styling and bespoke joinery with their existing rich historied artefacts.

Our clients have a love of red, which is showcased in the entrance and elsewhere. At the entrance, we used double sided curtains – Flat side dramatic red, exterior side with a wonderful William Yeoward fabric.
We created a clean contemporary guest bathroom during the first phase of the project. At a later stage we added the stunning fish fossil seen in the reflection of the basin mirror.
The compact Master Bedroom where we were asked to reference the style of some of the boutique hotels our clients stayed in while travelling in the Far East, as well as improving their storage solutions.

Master Ensuite, a full length mirror behind the basin as a boutique hotel reference – it also allows a connection to the hallway beyond reflecting the wonderful wallpaper.
In the Hallway, existing family heirloom antiques were kept with some items reupholstered. The walls are covered in a gorgeous wallpaper by Juliet Travers.
Another hallway image, the approach to the Reception Room.
The clients had existing furniture which they wanted to keep – we recommended refreshing the colour palette to allow the colour of their artworks and the garden views to POP. Here you can see the brightly coloured cushions we had made to complement the rest of the room.
This Reception Room is all about the garden, and the connection with nature bringing the outside in. These curtains spoke to us for this space instantly, the light and neutral background providing the blank canvas, but with a stunning embroidered floral design – that created an opportunity to play with greens, pinks and oranges elsewhere in the room.
Detail of re-upholstery of a family piece, bold colours reflect our clients personalities whilst also bringing out tones in the room.
A lovely tiered garden - designing interiors is always made easier with an exterior view to tie in with..
