A grown up lounge - sophisticated yet practical with two young children.
It was a joy working on every element of this multi-phase project. Having lived out of boxes for a couple of months post purchase, our clients approached us to make sense of the space. The floor plan and property was such that we didn’t feel tempted to make any structural changes, but we did redo the lighting and worked with a specialist AV company to ensure all audio visual needs were met.
The generous proportions of the rooms throughout allowed us the luxury of space in creating a home for this busy family of four. The brief in all areas was to ensure the house was both a practical functional everyday family home as well as a space for entertaining gatherings of their large family and friends. It was to be elegant or cosy as per their mood.

An ante room to the lounge, and perfect location for their baby grand piano – we designed bespoke joinery to be built in, fitting the style of the property and their needs – open bookshelves for a lovely display of books and concealed cupboards for the items you don't want seen!
We reupholstered armchairs with a fun striped velvet and practical suedette, whilst sourcing a new Chesterfield and a velvet sofa to complement an autumnal colour scheme.
Close up of the existing prints we reframed. The curtain fabric is a wide width (helping to avoid ugly seam lines) and hangs beautifully. Even better, it's super affordable.
The Porta Romana floor lamp adds a sculptural quality whilst providing further accent lighting.
Not every house (or client) would go for this statement red carpet but the clients love colour and were brave. The wonderfully grand entrance and wide stairwell ensure the colour does not overpower.
Requesting a grand luxurious bedroom we really enjoyed sourcing pieces and working with their existing furniture to transform this room into something a bit palatial. One of our favourite aspects was how to deal with the fireplace, which the clients didn’t want to use but also didn’t want a gaping black hole in an otherwise cream and gold room – we commissioned a florist who specialised in faux arrangements to make a large display for the fireplace – the flowers pick up on those detailed in the wallpaper.
An existing armchair was reupholstered and a footstool made to match, a bespoke side table was designed and made to accommodate clients AV and book collection – the levels swivel for ease of access and is styled to go with the Julian Chichester bedside tables.
Highlighting the detailed design of the Designers Guild wallpaper, combining the floral display design within a geometric and architectural fretwork.
A bespoke wardrobe with panels inset with antique mirror glass.
The bathroom was largely untouched - again existing prints were given a new lease of life, reframed and repositioned. In the window, we installed a fixed panel of a decorative sheer fabric to provide permanent privacy, together with a soft plain roman blind .
We retained the existing dressing room, fitted with good quality joinery in a style that works with the house, adding a dressing table with a reupholstered tstool, dressing the window with a bordered roman blind – with fabrics that tie in with the ensuite.
